DECLARATION OF CERTAIN PRINTING INDUSTRY ACTIVITIES AS CONTROLLED EMITTERS MacRobert wishes to draw your attention to the following important notice
The Minister of Environmental Affairs has, in terms of section 23(1) read with sections 24 and 57 of the NEM:AQA, given notice of her intention to declare the following printing activities as controlled emitters – “Printing, coating and lamination processes using gravure, flexography, rotary screen printing, heat set lithography, vanishing and printing systems that incorporate elements of these technologies”. Any new printing industry activity will have to comply with the prescribed emission standards for a new printing industry activity immediately while any existing printing industry activity will have to comply with the prescribed emission standards for an existing printing industry activity within a period of 5 years. Members of the public are invited to submit comments within 30 days after the publication of this notice in the Gazette (i.e. on or before 05 December 2016).
